This quote from the wonderful @yung_pueblo has been on my mind recently. It gets to the heart of why so many of us suffer with feeling disconnected - hardly surprisingly, given the omnipresence of phones, screens, gaming and the dreaded ‘influencers’ who portray these seemingly perfect and unattainable lifestyles which are always out of reach. Feeling lost and disempowered is, I would say, one of the most prevalent reasons for seeking therapy right now. Disconnection with the self usually feels like being ‘stuck’ and that something is wrong without being able to put your finger on exactly what or why. In my own experience of therapy and self exploration, the journey back to your self involves a few different elements, all of which can give your day to day life the vibrancy it may have been missing. One part is that your healing journey requires an acceptance of changes and growth, when our nervous system wants things to stay the same, as familiarity feels safe. Another part is to question and change the stories of our conditioning and messages from childhood that have kept us repeating patterns of behaviour that no longer serve us. There’s also the guided release of stored trauma which has been imprinted onto our bodies. I know I’m biased, but I believe that it’s the best thing you can do for yourself and for those you love - as self knowledge as a ripple effect on everyone around you and will impact on every one of your relationships ✨
